Adrian Jean Lous, owner of Doula Philosophy

Welcome to
Doula Philosophy!

From 2017 to now, I have worked with amazing clients in defining their maternal experiences by breaking through obstacles such as trauma, oppression, food insecurity and more. My clients deserve a birthing experience that is positive and it is my duty to cultivate that for them.

I am Adriana,

Your Doula & Trainer

After nearly four years of supporting over 100 families, the Boston-based doula felt moved to develop an opportunity to bridge a gap by serving mothers facing disparities and educating more diverse learners to become doulas. Adriana is an educator, compassionate caregiver and dedicated doula.

Over the past few years, she has been happily consumed with supporting clients in an environment best suited for them. Watching mothers exude strength in their journey and bring new life in to the world continues to leave a lasting impression on her and reinforces her purpose. Adriana's passions of navigating maternal and infant health, from pregnancy to postpartum and beyond, is what drove her to become a doula, train new doulas and develop Doula Philosophy. Her passion continues to flow as she works towards to becoming a midwife as well.

Adriana's goal has always been and continues to be empowering families to make evidence based decisions for their maternal journey; being able to guide families on how to take on that power and responsibility has shaped the experiences of clients into positive and comforting ones.

In a 2017 report of live births in Massachusetts of the over 70,000 births, 7,251 of those were Black women.  Doula Philosophy hopes to ensure that Boston area moms have the resource of doulas to recognize and combat disparities in maternal health while also supporting moms to have the birthing experiences they desire.

Women who have received doula care have reported improved health outcomes including higher rates in breastfeeding initiation, improved satisfaction with birthing experience and lowered rates of cesarean sections.
